Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I was fortunate to have 5 days off and it was definitely needed. I was able to catch up with a few friends, see a ton of family, start the holiday shopping and best of all, spend some quality time with my husband! Here's a photo shoot I am working on for my friend Roxanne. Enjoy!

So much is changing!

It's been awhile since my last update and for good reason! I was offered and started a new job last week in Adel, Iowa. So, we have been really busy getting the house ready to put up for sale. Well, every square foot of this house has been cleaned, boxes have been packed and I finally feel like I can breathe just a little bit! So hopefully the house sells soon so I won't be driving 110 miles a day, but all in good time. Here are a few photos I took while in the Amana colonies with my girlfriends the first weekend in October. Hopefully with life settling just a bit I will be updating just a little more often!

We are family.

One of the most difficult photo shoots to date was this one. It's a bit of a challenge when you are the photographer and a family member! But so far, they haven't turned out to terrible. I definitely need a lot more practice using the camera timer, or get a wireless remote. I'm voting for the wireless remote;)

So Busy Already!!

Wow, I start a blog and already on post number 2! Today I had the pleasure of shooting with a great friend and photographer, Roxanne Bappe from Imaging Rox. One of my friends/coworkers offered to model for me so I could get some practice with shooting some non-traditional photos. We headed down to main street in Ames, Iowa and had a BLAST!! We were down there for almost 3 hours and Erica was a trooper! Thanks so much to her for being such a sport and offering up her time so Roxanne and I could get some practice in! I've just started editing and thought I would share one photo!

My First Post

Hello there! Thanks for visiting the Sorensen Photography blog. I thought I would start this blog by telling you a little about myself. I'm from a small rural farming town in North Central Iowa, Gilmore City, which has a population of around 650. I spent my entire life there with lots of family close by. I graduated from Twin River Valley High School in 2000 and started attending Iowa State University that Fall. The summer before my Freshman year at ISU, I married my husband, Nathan. As crazy as we were, it must have been right because we are still married after 8 crazy adventure filled years. In the fall of 2004 I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art and Design. Since then I have been working full-time in the Graphic Design field. One year ago last month my husband and I decided to start Sorensen Photography. A lot has developed over the course of this past year and we couldn't be more excited about the future. So, please join us as we continue the adventure.
